Once you’ve done all this work to get ready, now comes the fun part: getting to share your pride and joy with others. It’s time to open your doors, invite people in and show them how much you enjoy their company, with your home acting as the conduit for meaningful get-togethers. Doing so not only strengthens your bond with family, friends, and community but it also lets you see your own home in a brand new light. It’s all part of the lovefest that you’ve created. Congratulations! You totally deserve it.
Have a Party for Friends and Family: Hosting a get-together is one of the best ways to celebrate your hard work and truly enjoy the fruits of your labor. Let guests ooh and ahh a little bit, while you bask in the pleasure of a job well done. You’ll also hatch some new memories in the process.
Photograph Your Home: Whether you hire a photographer, or snap pics yourself, take the time to document your home in its new state. At the very least, you’ll have a record of your home for the future. If you move later on, or even just switch things up down the road, you’ll always be able to look back and remember where and how you lived at the time.
Share Online: If you want to share the photos of your home with others, that’s great too. Post them to your blog or Facebook, and tweet them. Or submit them to a website (like Apartment Therapy) for a wider audience.
Block House Tours: Neighborhoods often schedule walking and home tours as fundraisers throughout the year. Get your home on the list and add another opportunity to share your accomplishments and meet neighbors.
Host a Weekend Getaway (at Home): The next time your college roommates want to get together, suggest your house as the meeting place. Drink wine, reminisce and be merry.
