Huh? Terra Madre Day? You scratch your head puzzled, frazzled. You really can't handle another celebration in this already jam packed month. Relax. It's all about food.
Held on the occasion of Slow Food's birth, it's a celebration of good food, produced locally that's good for you and good for the environment. More than 800 communities from 115 countries will be participating. Why not you? Head over to your farmer's market and pick up whatever is in season and grown locally. Bring it home, invite some friends, open a local wine and voila! For more information, click here.
Try these recipes from our sister site, The Kitchn:
- Sweet Potato and Sage Gratin: try it with white potatoes if you can't find locally grown sweet potatoes.
- Save the Beet Greens!: a side of beets or some sauteed beet greens are beautiful this time of year.
- Crispy, Bubbly Skillet Macaroni and Cheese: experiment with cheeses made locally.
- Clementimes: 8 Ways to Eat, Drink & Decorate With Them: serve some pretty delicious clementines for dessert.
Do you try to eat locally? Seasonally? What's on your menu?
