I hope celebrity closet envy is a productive way to spend your time, because I could spend hours looking at these pictures, scouring the details. It must be wonderful to wake up and stroll into a closet that strongly resembles a Bloomingdale's and look great in all of the clothes.
• Jessica Alba: I love Jessica Alba's hats on display. It makes them accessible and creates a nice little vignette.
• Christina Aguilera: The fact that she needs a ladder to get to her clothes says it all.
• Miley Cyrus: The hot pink, black chandeliers and houndstooth chair are a fun youthful mix. It's easy to imagine an outfit montage in that mirror.
• Eva Longoria: Her closet is meticulously organized, yet still feels amazingly casual. I just hope that dog doesn't shed.
• Oprah Winfrey: Where does it end? Where does it begin? Why is there a TV in her closet? Because she's Oprah.

Jesus, if my closet looked like Oprah's, I never would've come out of it.
Some of these are unintentionally hilarious...
Christina's son looks right at home among her other accessories, and Miley's closet looks like it could be the fabulous ladies' dressing room at a Walmart flagship store.
The one with the shoes forward/backward is setting off my OCD....
frazzle, I totally agree :D
... these ppl actually dress themselves? Fairly shocked. I wonder that they actually need their own clothes at all anymore....
I like the use of the leaning bookcases in... miley's... "closet". Oprah's closet looks like a boring store. :\
Not only will the shoes fit better with one turned each direction, but it may come in handy sometimes to be able to see the front and back of the shoe when deciding which pair to wear with a particular outfit.
I mean, when you have that many shoes, you may not be able to remember exactly what they all look like!
I actually like jessica alba's the best. Less pretentious looking. Also looks like a vintage leather shop.
These closets seem larger than my house. I do not think I have ever owned that many clothes over my entire life. Impressive, and I completely agree with frazzle.
jeallllllousssss! i had the worst thought the other day- that I had too many clothes-and may have to down size- my three closets and 3 dressers and what's under my bed are STUFFED! :(
I have five pairs of shoes, including furry, blue bedroom slippers and they take up very little space. I like that.
Any Idea where I can get Jessica Alba's OUTFIT?? How cute is that for the office?
Oh - and her closet is my favorite too. Her style seems the most authentic somehow. These other pictures feel "designed" or "styled" for the celebs.
I really like Jessica Alba's. I love her hat collection and the mood of her and her closet. Plus, she looks adorable in there.
If I remember correctly that is actually Oprah's office closet @ her HARPO studios. Which is completely different from wardrobe.
Jessica Alba is clearly very chic, and her closet seems the least pretentious of the lot. It's just a simple place for storing her inordinately large shoe collection.
Oprah's closet, on the other hand, is obviously maintained by a minion. And that's just wrong.
I want a minion . . . . .
The lighting in Oprah's closet looks horrible and unflattering.
Memo to self: Make more money.
Jessica's totally rocks. Does anyone need that many jeans like Eva's? It seems a little absurd. I don't like Miley's closet but I guess it fits her teenage persona.
Christina's closet is bigger than my bedroom. Not sure whether that's depressing for me, or gross for her?
hey eva, is it really necessary to own so many pairs of pants?
Something is troubling about Christina's closet. Oh, yes. It's the pants-less toddler.
Oh, the closet trauma I would have to deal with every day! I would never come out of a closet looking like those trying to figure out what to wear.
That Oprah closet IS her closet at HARPO. That closet is inside her enormous office. So, it has a television in it probably so she can see what is going on at the set while getting ready, like seeing the audience filing in and watching her staff pumping up the audience for the show. I can't imagine what her home closets must look like.
If I ever had that many clothes/that much money, I would want Eva's. I agree with Stinkypants: what's the statement that Christina (or the photographer) is trying to make? "Look at my fantabulous shoe collection. Oh, pants on the baby? What? Why? I was going to buy baby clothes but then I got distracted by these boots. No, no. Just keep looking at the shoes."
I just want to see the next few takes from the photo shoot at Christina's house. 5-inch platform heels on a ladder? We all know how that ends.
Toddlers LIKE to wear no pants. She's just being nice...
I agree with those who like Jessica's closet best. It's simple but functional and probably because I'd line my shoes exactly like her.
Also, I can't imagine owning half of all those shoes! And Oprah's closet appears bigger than my living room!
Stunning, but not necessarily in a good way. Does anyone need that much stuff, really? I guess it's good for the economy.
I love these ideas! I am planning to move into an apt with 2 WICs and hope to turn one wall of one of my closets into floor to ceiling shoe display/storage. Can't wait!
wow, i would be terrible at being a celebrity. so many shoes! who needs that many shoes? i'd be going through and giving away stuff to goodwill like crazy. then i'd be the celebrity that always gets photographed (and made fun of) for wearing the same pair of shoes and carrying the same bag all the time. it just wouldn't be good at all. good thing i'll never have that much money or clothing, i guess :)
i love this entry. whoever thought of this idea is a genius. =)
The excessiveness of celebrity.
Out of them all (besides that many pairs of shoes) it seems the most normal of them all. Though as much as I hate the fads Oprah starts, her closet looks like my dream closet.
If I ever re-dedicate one of the bedrooms in my house into a closet I think I need to get rid of clothes or have a kid.
If you wear things only once, do you even need a closet?
it looks like great example of how money doesn't equal style
I found this appalling, mainly. Thank goodness most of us will never make enough money to be so excessive - the trouble is an awful lot of people aspire to it.
Thanks, cremedela- you took the words right out of my mouth...
I hate it when I leave my roller skates laying around.
Oh, I guess Oprah's studio wardrobe gets a pass, then....
Whoever said this is about need?
I store my shoes (on a much, much smaller scale) like Jessica Alba's closet. The front/back is like Trish and EWm say--space saving, and allows for a good view of both angles of the shoe. If I were to compare my organization particularity with OCD (which I don't), I would say NOT having them stored that way sets mine off. I like them to fit as efficiently as possible.
I find this excessive and selfish and gross. Who needs that many pairs of shoes when so many in this world go without? I have had it with "excess as best" - why not reuse, recycle, donate? Going home to clean out my closet again tonight. Thanks for the inspiration!
Celeb closets are nice...unfortunately we can't all have closets like this.
A look at a more normal celeb closet would be nice. In Style showed Tracy Ellis Ross' closet (she's an actress..and Diana Ross' daughter). She had the clothes but in a normal space and it didn't look like a show room.
There was an ad maybe 10 years ago, I don't remember what it was for. But a woman was walking in her front door, trying to set down her stuff and run to catch a phone ringing. It looked like she lived in a tiny overstuffed NYC studio - room enough for just a bed and a hotplate. She sprinted over her bed and yanked open the closet door to reveal a gorgeous ballroom-sized closet that stretched on to infinity, complete with a 1940's phone table and chandeliers. Obviously ridiculous, but still, a little part of me thought, "Hmm, for a single girl in the city, that's not a bad use of space" ;-)
I completely agree, SquidInk. It makes me want to go through my closet again - and make sure I've given everything I don't wear to Goodwill.
I want CA's shoe shelf but I want it for my books... And not in pink... And the half dressed man must be of age.
I'd be ashamed to have that many shoes and clothes, so I can't believe how proud these people are of their excesses.
surprisingly awful taste. varying degrees of macmansion. I guess money does that to people.
All I see is extra laundry or huge dry cleaning bills and lots of shoe polish, assuming that they are keeping everything to wear a second time.
Men, never ever marry those women, even avoid them as girlfriends.
I think no matter what my finances looked like, I couldn't purchase that many pairs of 700 dollar shoes. It would just feel wrong to me. It always seems like these celebs are always wearing the same pair of black Louboutin pumps every time they are on TV anyway.
Celebrity closets?!? Looks like clothes stores to me!
lots of judgy mcjudgersons :) lots of them get stuff for free...and don't tell me if you were in their shoes you probably wouldn't have something similar...you don't know what these people do in their off time with their "leftover" clothes, their money, or their time. get over yourselves.
