Dianne McIntosh sent us this creative solution composed of 35 ceramic tiles created for a client who lives in a condo without a kitchen window, converting their stove backsplash into something a bit more scenic.
The photographic decorative tiles are created using a 2880 d.p.i. resolution print, a process similar to "tattooing" where the colour permeates the substrate (not sticker/decals), and custom images can be created to order. We'd think it would be fantastic if there was a magnetic tiles options where you could remove/add different tiles to customize your scenes/patterns, because we think we'd get sick of any static view.

Have to agree with the other commenters. Concept is interesting (sort of...I have a pretty good idea of what I think they'd look like close up, and it's not awesome), but I don't like the look at all.

Fake window=worse than no window at all.
Got a better result by hanging a Van Gogh reproduction of a field (which featured some perspective) above the sink. I recommend landscape paintings with perspective to bring the outside in.
It clashes terribly with the tiles and cabinets.

well i have to agree with the above. as someone still in the throes of tiling the backsplash, i can think of a million better, cooler, prettier tile designs for setting behind the sink.
Haha, of course you're all right. I didn't think that tile/view design was all that attractive, but I think the idea and technology itself is keen. Hopefully they can update with a more up-to-date design and kitchen setting.

I don't like what they did in this instance, but I too have a windowless kitchen and am considering all sorts of ways to make it feel less like a cage. This is the first time in years I haven't had at least a small window in my kitchen and I want to enliven this new space. Do people have thoughts about this?
ha ha ha ha one of those faux water back light scenic waterfall wall hangings. although it may make your place look more like a vegas kitchen with no window but some neons, lol!
What works as a view for one does not work for another. That's the beauty of custom choice. "Photo Decorated Tiles" have been around since a man named "Grundy" in the 1800's, but what's new is the quality and applications.
