"This bed was originally conceived for a self-proclaimed shoe-horse who had a bedroom with very little storage. The challenge was to design an eco-conscious piece that possessed copious storage but didn't appear chunky."

I wish that second picture was actually a picture instead of a drawing. We only get one shot of the whole bed and it's at a wacky angle, so it's hard to tell what the bed really looks like.
That being said... this bed looks superb! I'm so surprised there aren't more beds like it. Built-in under-bed storage seems like a common sense idea for small space living. Yeah, I know one can just buy boxes or containers to slide under the bed, but that tends to look trashy. This bed looks a million times better.
I WANT THIS!!
I want this bed so much. I went to the web site, and my spirit soared to see that its actually something we can buy.
then I looked at the price, and I think a tear actually rolled down my cheek.
whats a shoe-horse?
i love this.
This bed is amazing!
Best storage/platform bed I've ever seen.
"whats a shoe-horse?"
A closely-related evolutionary cousin to the Clothes-Horse.
@antimatt
A specialized breed of clothes-horse. I wonder how accommodating those drawers/compartments are for shoe-storage. 24 compartments would probably take all of my shoes, doubled up....
WANT!
i love all the storage. and it's beautifully designed...that's always a plus!
Ultimate sheek!!!!. Great design and color.
I've seen beds with drawers underneath before, but they generally look so bulky; this is not my usual style, but I love how sleek and airy it looks, even with the storage drawers. Impressive.
Beautiful fluid lines!
What and awesome bed!!! Love it!
Fantastic!
Love the design of the bed. And, I wanted to buy it too...until I saw it cost $9,000. Wow. Talk about expensive bed!!
lovely design + execution!
gorgeous and sleek. nicely done...
stunning!
Function is so important -- she hit the nail on the head when designing this bed --
Stainless steel legs keeping it off the floor is ideal for the Caribbean climate- airflow under around bed, no corrosion and no centipedes can climb up the legs! it's like a modern four poster. Love it!
This piece of furniture is exquisite AND practical. Hard to find!
Seems like you could add legs and a headboard to IKEA's Mandal bed and have a way less expensive (but not as pretty) alternative. We have the black/natural Mandal bed and I've been contemplating just such a hack.
C'est Fantastique!!! Bravo ma cheri !!
This design is seriously conducive to utilizing space wisely and graciously. Not to mention, I'd love to dive into it. My idea of conscientious class.
very sleek design that does more than look good.....always a plus
This designer is very creative. I would love to see some more of her work.
Wow! Great looking bed! The design is practical for the urban space saver and good looking!
Sorry, but I think a platform that dwarfs the mattress is highly impractical and would be tiresome to look at after a rather short while.
I love it.
I am surprised everyone loves this. I agree - it has many good sides as far as use of space and storage. But that entire space from the mattress to the edge of the bed, I would HATE having to touch that edge every morning I woke up. I am sure it is smooth and all, but I really think it is tooo much edge at the side of the mattress. Maybe with a wider and lower mattress I would give it three stars. The way it is now it gets only one.
AND, the way the bed is now it looks like one needs a step ladder to get in bed.
