We've talked about adding chalkboard paint to all kinds of things from dining tables to pantry doors, but we hadn't come across this idea yet. Painting wooden blocks with chalk:
Kids can then draw on the blocks and create puzzles that fit together. They can also practice spelling, sentences, and numbers. If you've got a little bit of chalkboard paint left lying around somewhere, this is the perfect way to use it up!

Nomade Express Slee...
icky icky. the thought of touching them is giving me the willies!
I actually made some of these for my friends kids this christmas. A set of four painted blocks, plus a box of ikea chalk...a nice cheap gift! (They really dont feel that awful, btw. I used spray chalkboard paint, and it actually feels pretty smooth.) And for less than $10, I made 3 sets of blocks. :D
Perfect idea! I just finished chalkboard painting the back of the door in the bedroom we're preparing for our future foster kids. I've been looking for other toy and decor ideas for the room. Thanks for sharing this idea!
i did this for christmas as well (as a cheap and simple advent calendar). we use them now for all sorts of fun.
also if you use the "bistro chalk markers" instead of chalk you don't have that "creepy chalk" feeling. :)
