We've seen lots and lots of great ideas utilizing chalkboard paint on play tables and walls, but what about the dining table?
Seeing this chalkboard painted dining table at Design Sponge made us think it would be really handy for keeping the young ones at the table longer. Are you brave enough to try this?

This is really cute - I like the idea of this for an outside table, especially.
Inside, I think it would be scratchy. The whole tableware (and fingernails) on a chalkboard thing.
I can see this as a snack/craft table, but not in our kitchen.
I love this idea and am seriously considering it since I need a new dining room table. My 3 kids just broke my pretty antique table. I just wonder about the durability of the paint. Anyone have any experience with it?

NO WAY. chills up mine spine thinking about the plates, forks and kid nails scratching across the table.
The thought of chalk on the dining table... ick!
It'll be EVERYWHERE! On the kids' hands (and clothes, and faces), on the dishes, on the food, on the floor, on all the other furniture... gross.
If it's the placement of the dishes factor that attracts you to this idea, you could make or buy a Montessori-inspired placemat.
Yeah, I actually did this about a year ago in a fit of whimsy and boredom. Umm, just don't. Really. It's fun as long as no one ever ever eats there. Ever. Otherwise, it's an icky mess.
Chalk and food don't mix. Many schools have removed chalkboards for a real health reason.
I saw similar concept (probably here on AT) with write-on / wipe off paint...
I like that idea a lot better
