yeah - I agree - champagne is a classic drink and deserves to be drank only from the classic glasses. I don't want to drink bubble out of thick glass lip... I can see a single rose in it tho

Anusha73, a classic champagne glass (coupe) is nothing like the modern champagne flute. Check it out.
yep, the "classic" champagne glass that Marie Antoinette used before she lost her head was not a flute.
Even through the roaring 20's the coupe was used.... the flute is a rather modern introduction made to preserve the bubbles longer...
either way, my bubbly never lasts long enough to go flat! Ha!
whether you use the flute or the coupe the point of the stem is to provide a place to hold the glass without warming the wine. I imagine the wine would get warm in these.
