We have a dedicated "charging cabinet" in our living room for laptops, cameras, DS's and the like, but, we keep our cell phone bedside at night. Aside from the fact that we read books on our kindle iphone app, we also use the alarm and have been known to check emails first thing in the morning (bad!, I know). At Home and Housewares, we saw that Oxo makes a nice item to help out with keeping charging neat in the bedroom and beyond.
It is a charging station with a built in cord control system. Simple, helpful and neat - perfect for small spaces.

That's a really great idea! Maybe I could charge my phone in the kitchen where I wouldn't forget about it now lol. I always forget it when it's plugged in the bedroom outlet.
Okay, forgive my ignorance, but from the looks of it, this "charging station" only charges one device at a time. So, aside from being a "shelf" and cord-keeper, what's the point?
It's one more THING that I don't need cluttering up my "junk" drawer or counter when it's not plugged into the wall... and don't we all know better by now than to leave things plugged in when they're not in use?
I should add that if it DID in fact charge and organize a number of devices at one time as well as managed their cords and did so in style, I could TOTALLY see the point.
That's hideous and non-functional.
Is this THE famous american design?
oxo is not original in this case. this one, which I found on the website spoonsisters.com is actually a bit more sleek in my opinion. http://bit.ly/auf3I4
This makes way more sense to me:
