The benefits of a charging station or docking station when it comes to removing visual clutter are incomparable, but this one is just asking to be added to the list of Easy Ways to DIY a Charging Station. The Lessev Mobile Station is discreet and stylish, just as they claim it to be. But with a $79 price tag, we think this could be done cheaper at home...
It's essentially a bowl with a lid. One hole in the bottom of the bowl allows a power strip to rest inside, and holes in the lid are in a really functional shape that allows charger heads to pass through but not fall inside.
We think this could be easily done with any bowl and lid from Ikea, Target or anywhere, and look just as sleek. We'd especially love to copy the practacal starburst shape on top. What do you think?

i think this is a great idea but they need to drop their price on it.
Yes, you could DIY, but they've taken care of a lot of the major problems with the diy. the have a little cord tunnel at the bottom for the main cord to come out.
The star shape at the top is really good and i wonder if their top is kind of rubbery, harder to find a top like that on tupperware. Plus the slight dip in the top to cradle the things plugged in instead of a flat top.
Small charger on the inside, not too hard to find, just another component to add.
The main thing being is theirs looks really sleek and stylish and i think most of the DUY's would look kind of cheap and crappy.
I'd like to see more colors that would make it look less like tupperware, solid colors, all black, bright colors, etc. I also wonder if it heats up inside of it a lot, which is the advantage to the cord out of the bottom, so you can have a bigger hole to vent more air.
oh, and to even get more fancy with it, how about a discreet yet accessible switch to turn the entire power cord set up off when nothing is plugged in, since they'll always be drawing power right now...
There was a DIY posted a while ago, I think, using a flower pot, which would take care of the hole in the bottom; if you put little feet on it (stick-on rubber feet?), that would raise it up enough to take care of the cord tunnel.
Strangely, cords and base stations bother me less than the idea of some big over-sized Tupperware-style tub wasting space on a shelf.
I'd love to see Ikea rip that off 'cause $79 is ridiculous.
