Name: Charlie (19 months)
Location: Exeter, NH
Color Inspiration: For some reason, I was certain our second was a girl and I allowed myself to think very GIRL about the room. When we learned Charlie was a boy, I was stumped and didn't know where to start. I came across an inspiration board I had torn out of an old issue of Living Etc. with really fun red, yellow and navy blue and I just loved it. Didn't know where to start though until I found the curtain fabric at IKEA and everything fell into place from there.
Tip for Using Color: These colors can be kind of loud. Using small doses against a neutral backdrop mixed with lots of white and natural wood tone them down.
Colors Used: Walls: Hotel St. Francis Clay Angel (Valspar). Bureau: Custom mixed at Sherwin Williams (I bought their darkest blue but it wasn't dark enough so they kept adding black until I liked it.) Side Table: Sun Yellow (Krylon)
Thanks for your colorful entry Jennifer and good luck!

Where'd the Chicago print come from?
This is a wonderfully fabulous room! Where is the side table from?
aw. love charlies room! :)
Thanks guys. I'm glad at least two people like it. I want to die a little inside when I see that the majority of voters don't, but oh well...I guess it is basically a darkish white room entered in a color contest. : ) I still love it.
The print is from orkposters.com and the little side table is something I picked up from a second hand furniture store. If you're ever in Portsmouth, NH, stop in at Olde Port Traders on Islington St. They have the best stuff.
Oh, I love your room! Yours was the first one I voted "color me impressed" for.
I think a lot of people want really bold color, but I love your pops of red (we have the same Rody). The little yellow plaid stool was what really swayed me though. :)
I agree with alahoop that people seem to want really bold color, but I've found most in this year's contest to be cookie-cutter and "expected".
This is a beautiful and well put together room, with some nice unique pieces! Definitely impressed.

They have posters for various cities.
Giggit/Jennifer, please don't worry about the votes. Most of these contests are won by people who's children haven't been born yet, or are less than three months old. They are free to have the room staged like a magazine. Your room belongs to a 19-month-old--it has to work for a real child! You have a great eye--I love the plaid ottoman and the yellow side-table especially. It was fun to look at your pics--thanks for sharing your space!
People are crazy for note voting for you room. This has seriously been my favorite so far. I entered too....hank's golden corral.
note=not lol.
Awww...thanks!! I just checked out "Hank's Golden Corral". It's totally adorable!! Love it! And the name cracks me up. Very cute! -- Jen
I think it's lovely, and I'm sad that it's too late to vote. I love the pops of red, yellow and navy around the room, and how you incorporated all of those colours on the little stool cover. So sweet.
I remember when I entered last year I got a few of those "not feeling it" votes and felt a little sad and miffed at the same time. I think the later you enter, the more votes you get. You'll probably notice that later in the competition, so really don't take the low positive votes to heart.
I agree with Britabroad. I entered later and got alot of votes....and to be honest I think most of the rooms are better than mine. I actually got a pretty nasty comment and wanted to have a little cry lol.
Ana, I saw that comment on yours (and for what it's worth, I think the nursery is a perfect place for a silver pouf!). I can't believe how harsh some people can be.
I entered too this year (Maxine's Vintage Sunshine) and was terribly nervous about the whole thing. I probably would have cried over a comment like that!
thanks, alahoop. i just posted on your room :) -Ashley
