With the return of warm weather here in Southern Cali, we're starting see more joggers and hikers around accompanied by their trusted tailed companions. Though we often see their owners carrying water for themselves, it's often the case that Fido has to wait till he returns home or happens upon a water fountain (come on, if you're thirsty after 20 minutes walking, imagine being all covered in fur). The Charlybox is a two-liter canteen with two bowl storage, sort of like a canine version of the lunch box you carried to school as a kid...
Made of two halves, the Charlybox includes a two-liter canteen for fresh water, and two bowls for water and kibble. Snap the two halves together and set out for a day with your dog. When it’s time for a snack, separate the halves and fill one of the bowls with water from the canteen. The second bowl can be used for storing and serving kibble. Made of injection-molded shatterproof plastic with an integrated carrying handle.
Available at DWR.

Hmmm. And to think that I just did a 7 hour drive with my dog yesterday with nothing but 2 gladware containers....
There's nothing like a $60 dog bowl.
This seems just a bit too clunky to carry along. I use a small vinyl pouch with shoulder straps that holds food, a bottle of water, and a small collapsible water bowl.
not just covered in fur, dogs have no sweat glands. breathing with the tongue out is all they have for heat relief.
I can't imagine lugging that.
I have nylon bowls which are the same material as those old velcro wallets - they're great. They fold into a flat shape and go in your pocket, and can be filled from a water bottle or fountain.
I got mine free with a dog food order.
Its not good to feed or allow your dog to drink from plastic, causes all kinds of problems- allergies, itching, etc.
I pour water into a (usually biodegradable) little plastic bag and hold it in my hand. He seems to be ok with that. I'm already carrying the bags 'cause I try to be a responsible dog owner, and if it's warm I've got a bottle of water or a camelback for me anyway. If we go away for a day or two, Ziplock bags do just fine for carrying food. This product seems to be jumping on the bandwagon of "make it for pets and people will buy it even if it's retarded because they have money burning holes in their pockets".
We bought a very similar thing for $5 on clearance at a pet store last year. Honestly seemed like a BRILLIANT thing at the time, but we've used it once. Not worth it. I mean we didn't pay $60 for it, but still...not worth it.
uh..
1) it doesn't look like it's easy enough to carry around. bulky, even.
2) if i'm just going to toss it in the car on the way...2 plastic bowls will do. or a bottle.
