Here's a design wake-up call on this Monday morning. Emma Reddington and her partner Yasmin Zeitler completed a rental bedroom makeover that is featured in Chatelaine magazine, with the brightest blue walls possible and pops of gold, red, and white for contrast.

Because the apartment is rented, the only physical change the designers made was to cover the wall behind the bed with Benjamin Moore’s Down Pour Blue. The decorative touches include a Curtis Jere sculpture and Madeline Weinrib rug. Another quick fix includes switching out the standard-issue blinds with shades or drapes. It's the layering of color and texture in the room that softens the look of new construction and adds a more interesting character to the space.
