It's not uncommon to find homes today with two, three, maybe even four separate tablets and/or laptops used by individual household members. Of course, it was keen eyed IKEA shoppers who found a space efficient kitchen organization product which works perfectly for storing and charging a multitude of slim portable smart devices...
I originally happened upon an affordable product reuse solution over at IKEA Hackers (shown above), an IKEA "RANSBY" plate rack set up to hold a family's collection of iPads and iPad minis, resulting in a "tidier overnight charging solution." Only one problem: upon inspection, the plate rack was discovered not to be the RANSBY as listed, but rather is the IKEA FANBY (so easy to get all these names mixed up).
A little more online sleuthing and I discovered this IKEA kitchen storage product already had other reuse fans, including blogger, Cecile van Straten of Chuvaness.com, who found the plate rack well equipped to store and organize her own family's assorted collection of iDevices and MacBooks.
Even though these two IKEA hacks were posted recently, it appears IKEA isn't currently selling the FANBY (or at least listing them online; I've occasionally still run into products in-store). The FANBY is available via Amazon for $18.00, but you might be better off spending just $8.88 for a similar and cheaper, Bamboo Plate Rack/Pot Lid Holder. Not only is this option more affordable, but it can hold even more devices, doubling the capacity of the FANBY (4 slots vs. 8).
