Cheap Repurpose: Small Things Storage

Cheap Repurpose: Small Things Storage

There has been some obsessive re-purposing of vintage kitchen ware into small storage containers in our home this year - see earlier efforts. However, the boyfriend recently complained of being overwhelmed by kitchen stuff throughout our apartment. So out of respect, we did not purchase a stack of 70's(?) wooden serving platters and bowls on a recent trip to Savers. Instead we will vicariously share our vision for them and hope some of you will enjoy.

Ideas:

  • The serving platters with sections would make great landing strip storage for keys as each person can have a separate section so things don't get mixed up.
  • They would also work well in a bedroom to store jewellery and other small 'things', or a home office, think paper clips etc.
  • Our other thought was to use a single small bowl as a soap dish in the bathroom. If you want it to last, you would need to coat it with a waterproof seal.
  • The great thing is these are so cheap and abundant at thrift/op-shops. Savers had lots of sizes and shapes from all under $8. Savers is a huge second hand chain store with 5 stores in VIC, Australia and many in the States and Canada.
