What happens when a special effects designer graduates to building homes? In the case of Steven Rude, it looks like a hybrid of Dr. Seuss, Pan's Labyrinth, and Gaudí.

Rude, who spent twenty years designing 3D special effects for TV and film, built his Casa Dr. Seuss in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico with surreal details, like a tongue-shaped step used to climb into bed, and an alien dinosaur skeleton that encircles the rooftop terrace.
