About a year ago this Instagram camera concept set the internet chattering, such is the affinity some have for the social photo app. Well now there's talk about the Socialmatic really coming to life as a $350-$450 camera, but it looks like someone already beat them to the punch with a one-of-kind DIY photobooth fashioned after the most popular photo sharing app...
Open up Alexander Morris's amazing DIY Instagram photobooth camera and what's revealed inside is a geektastic setup comprised of a Nikon D3200 DSLR with a 18-55mm kit lens connected to two Nikon DB900 flashes. An Arduino microcontroller handles everything after the big red button on the back is pushed (the back is actually the front facing end), while a flat panel display showcases these simulated "Instagrams" for partygoers to "ooh" and "ahh" over.
It's all quite impressive, possibly the best DIY photobooth we've seen, and guaranteed to be more universally welcome when asked to pose for a photo at a big gathering.
