It's that time of year, kids. Back to school to hit the books (And the bars, right?) until next summer. Even if you've gotten all the right tech gear and saved money with student-discounted software, there's still one more thing to do: Checkup and Backup your computer.
All of these tips can be done at any time, really. But if you take care of this stuff before you make the trip back to school, you'll ensure that you're in great shape for the new semester (and maybe mom and dad will pay for it).
1. Backup Data
No matter what age you are, there are three certainties in life: Death, taxes and your computer crashing in the middle of your huge research paper. When your semester-end project comes crashing down, make sure it doesn't take your iTunes library with it by backing up your laptop before you leave for school.
2. Update Your Software
Install all the necessary updates to your computer, including getting updated anti-virus software.
3. Check for Repairs
Use a diagnostics tool to figure out if your computer needs a tuneup. If you do have any problems with your machine, get it checked out now by a trusted local tech.
