My yard! Though I live right outside of Washington D.C., I am fortunate enough to have a very woodsy backyard. The trees against the sky is the first thing I see when I wake up in the morning and look out the window. I love how no matter what time of year it is, there are always beautiful colors coming through the leaves and various types of trees. Even on the grayest of days, there is a stunning display of natural, earthy color.
Colors used in my room:
Crisp whites, soft greys, and vibrantly warm woods. Accents of mustard, camel and touches of aqua add snaps of warmth and coziness!
Tips for using color successfully:
Everyone has their own color preferences, but I have found that I like to start with a crisp, white canvas, (white walls, primarily), and add in some calming, warm neutrals through wood pieces and neutral upholstery or slipcovers. Then, the sky is the limit! I've had pastel phases, primary color phases, specific color 'themes', all based on my mood or the time of year, and all have worked out marvelously! It's so much fun to play with color and mix things up here and there.
