I've had several great experieinces with Home Carpet One at N. Lincoln Ave and W. Barry. It's not exactly in Evanston, but it is easily accessible via the CTA.
I've ben using Exposition Carpet on N. Broadway just north of Hollywood Ave. It's south of Evanston, but it is close. I have found they have the best prices; much lower than Home Carpet One which I have also used. The showroom is not so nice, but that's why they have low prices. I'm a decorator and I do shop around for the best price - they really are the lowest I have found. Good luck!
