Kay sent us an email and photos: "I have been a long reader of your website and thought that the readers might be able to help with rearranging the furniture in my home. The sideboard/piece beside the TV seems to be out of place. Maybe we also have too much furniture in our house or too many different colors. Please help!! "

Kay, we see what you are talking about - that storage piece next to the TV does look a bit large for the space it is occupying. The height seems to be the major offender here, it just is too tall for the narrow, small area between the wall and the light colored sofa. The fact that the entertainment center is so low slung makes it look especially tall by comparison.

Our suggestion would be to remove it completely, switching the floor lamp in the foreground of the second photo to that corner to illuminate the space and create a cozy reading spot at the end of the sofa. We'd move that (great-looking!) table lamp from the storage piece over to the left side of the tv and shift the tv to the right. Adding the table lamp to the entertainment center would add some visual interest by breaking up the super symmetrical set-up you have going on currently, while the triptych of artwork above will keep things in balance overall.

Any other arrangement suggestions for Kay? Please let her know in the comments below...
