We've bought glass mosaic tiles in a few places: in person at the Dick Blick store (next to DWR on North Ave.) and online at Stained Glass Warehouse.

There is a tile outlet store on Fullerton just west of Western Ave. It's on the north side of the street.
You can also find some in Homedepot.
I think it would be cool if you could use scrabble tiles - take some more of those tiles out and personalize with the some randomly-placed letters or words. the wood tone from the scrabble tiles would relate to the frame of the table. (That is...if they are the same size as the existing tiles....) There's a tile place called "Mosaicos" that I've had luck with - they can custom order.
Scrabble tiles is a great idea.
My local recycle building supply place (think Habitat for Humanity type store) often has little tiles like this. Matching colors would be hit or miss.

I'd suggest Tile Outlet @ 2444 W. Fullerton (mentioned above)... VERY self-serve, but great selection, and they sell tiles by the piece. Sometimes they'll even give you a less-than-full sheet of mosaics for free. :)
I'd carefully remove all tiles from around the perimeter of the table, and use them to fill in missing tiles in the body of the mosaic.
Then buy some tiles to complement the existing tiles (they likely won't match), and use them around the edges. I'd use all one color, like a nice frame.
If currently the tiles are barely glued to the table, you might be better off removing all of them and redoing it entirely (noting that you'd need new tiles for the perimeter).
Take notes before you pull the tiles out, so you can replace them correctly.

This company makes all sorts of tiles, sold in craft stores like Pearl paint and Michael's, but if you know the size and color you would be able to order them online.
You can go with paper! 2x2 squares cut from paint color samples found at Home Depot make a great mosaic pattern.
You will need a glass top or glossy seal over top, but it is an affordable and unique option!
One word: eBay. Kazillions and kazillions of tiles in every material, size, and color you could dream of.
