Last week Chicago's city council passed an ordinance banning the sale of crib bumpers. The ordinance was introduced by Aldermen who felt that federal regulators were not effectively educating consumers regarding the potential suffocation risks associated with bumpers. A similar ban is under discussion in the state of Maryland, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission is conducting an investigation.
