Daytime Storms and the Cozy Home

This morning's slow thunderstorm is lingering through the day, and we're thankful for our cozy indoor vantage point. Here, we're hoping to capture a little of that sleepy, daytime storm feeling for you, whatever the weather in your locale...

The rain is heavy at times, the clouds a dark blue-gray. We've lost electricity twice so far today (we're crossing our fingers we can get this put together before a prolonged power outage!). We love how daytime storms can transform the home or office into a cozy, sleepy respite from the outdoors.

Daytime storms are my favorite thing EVER. Seriously. I go completely wild if I wake up on a Sunday that I don't have to go anywhere and it is totally gearing up for a thunderstorm outside. It's the ultimate in coziness.

I wish it were raining here! I love the days when I can look out my window of my warm living room at a grey, drizzly day. And when I do venture out of the dry indoors, I get to wear my polar bear rain boots!

Right before this monster heat storm, we had a couple days of cold, rainy weather (Dear California, please make up your mind about the weather, thank you.) and hiding inside for those days was just delicious. I love sitting on the couch, reading and listening to the rain with a blanket and two cats in my lap.

I'm not so keen on storms when I have to be at work. The office seems colder when it rains.

Thunderstorms are so awesome! I love them day or night. A nap on a rainy Saturday afternoon is the best.

Here in the north there is a similar cozy feeling when watching an evening snowstorm from indoors. A streetlight's beam catching big fluffy flakes falling through the air. But then I think about the homeless and people who have to work on nights like that and it takes some of the fun out of it. Still pretty though.

I think that people who love rainy weather are people who love their homes. That's when I really enjoy the spaces I've created.

Thank you, love it! I love the rain, but it's even better when you get to be at home. Today we finally got a good, honest to God rainstorm and we even got a cool front for the first day of fall! So happy!
