A Garage Transformation
Maison & Decoration

041509garage.jpgThis "unique garage transformation" in Athens, Greece was originally published in Maison & Decoration; it (especially the kitchen) has us swooning! Owner Andreas Manolioudakis worked with architect Kiriakos Katsaros to re-create approximately 1700 sq ft of light-filled industrial cool.

041509cover.jpgThe mainly gray, steel and neutral space comes to life with vivid artwork, colorful accessories, and playful patterns peeking out at certain moments.

Click over to Yatzer to find more close-up and full room shots of the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and living areas.

i love the dyed concrete. my brother did the same to his entire basement and bar area. it's beautiful.

the same thing is seen at MGM Grand (Las Vegas) flooring outside and in.

Kitchen chairs! Must. Have. Kitchen chairs!

Does anyone know where those came from? Probably custom. Aww, what do I know. I only just learned what Eames chairs are within the past couple of months so those things might be on every street corner for all I know.

The chairs are Kartell Mademoiselle .. they are available in several patterns and no they are not cheap. Then again nice and cheap don't happen often.

If you like those chairs, here's an entire restaurant of them:

The look of transparent acrylic and glossy concrete is really quite fierce. I'm really fascinated with the idea of pouring a concrete countertop and cabinet base in what appears to be one piece.

Not fair! This is so stunning, love everything but the bathroom that is a miss a bit too sterile institutional looking

I don't typically like those chairs but they work amazingly well with this grey back drop.

The chairs are not custom -- they're Kartell Mademoiselle arm chairs: http://www.allmodern.com/Kartell-489X-KTL1023.html. I've been coveting them for years.

The restaurant in the Blackstone (the Hotel) has those chairs too, they look very nice, but might be a bit small for non-tiny people.

I hope that room, which is gorgeous, faces away from the sun in Greece - it would be awful in summer (though cozy in Winter...).
