What's Your Favorite Yankee Candle Scent?

20080924yankee1.jpgWe find it impossible, whenever we walk into a Bed Bath & Beyond, to avoid the massive wall of Yankee Candles. We can waste many a minute in front of this display: uncap, inhale, repeat.

Although we're always curious about new scents, there's one candle that has owned our nose since first whiff...

20080924yankee2.jpgWe adore the Sage & Citrus scented Yankee Candle. We occasionally test out other fragrances but we find that we tire of them quickly. Yet the Sage & Citrus, with its spicy botanical aroma and earthy green color, is our hands-down favorite because we return to it again and again.

So do our noses agree? What's your favorite Yankee scent?

I don't like anything from yankee candle. It's all too artificial smelling.

I always have a Macintosh freshener in my car. My mom thinks it smells like rotting apples, but I think she's crazy. I love scents that remind me of my favorite season...fall. Lately I bought a room freshener in Autumn Wreath. So soothing.

they all smell sort of too much for me - pacifica candles are my fav!

they last forever and have great up-to-date fragrances.

yankees always seem to be a little post-trend.

Let me say I am not a huge fan of Yankee Candles. HOWEVER, I do have one that I really enjoy. I believe it is called Clean Cotton. It pretty much smells like dryer sheets. It is a faint scent, but I like it.

Clean Cotton all the way. I love the smell of fresh laundry, so when I can't clean my blankets, curtains, pillows, etc. to get that scent, I burn a Clean Cotton candle. It's almost as good.

I love going to their factory store in Mass. I think I might have to make a trip.

My favorites are greenhouse, and christmas eve.

I used to work in the offices for yankee candle and can no longer use those candles. To get to my office from the parking lot I had to walk across the factory floor, passing 4 giant vats where 4 different batches of fragrant waxes would cook (not always complementary scents either). I definitely had work clothes, in other words, permanently scented clothes. From all that, I just need a 5-10 year break from candles.

Although all super nice people to work for, free gym, free lunch wednesdays and a great employee discount.

A discontinued scent "White Christmas" is my all-time favorite. Not sure why it was associated with the holidays though (maybe that's why it's discontinued).

Clean Cotton all the way. I love fresh, clean smells. Nothing stuffy, or sweet, or spicy for me.

Too bad we can't have candles in the dorms.

Yankee Candles are generally too overpowering for my tastes, but I got Midnight Jasmine as a gift and it can be quite nice in moderation. I use it if I've done any particularly fragrant cooking.

Midsummer's Night!!!!

A friend had one in her glovebox and when it opened it smelled like MEN. Mmmmm. When she told me what it was I had to buy it. I keep it by my bedroom door, for that extra little horomonal whiff. :)

Also, coconut, but I'm a nut for coconut, so no surprise.

I love clean cotton too! I generally don't like most of the scents because they're too strong and artificial, but I think I will give the sage & citrus a try since I tend to like clean green scents or something more earthy like sandalwood.

Mmm clean cotton. Yes yes. Also I have two other favorites: Aunt Sadies Bayberry - sooo christmasly perfect. And the letter M from Anthropologie.

My friends are always making fun of me for having an initial that is completely unrelated to mine, but that scent smells better. So there.

I love candles but am super picky about the scent.

I was always a bit snobby about Yankee Candles, but then I smelled Herbal Ice Tea at a friend house and got hooked. That scent is long gone, but now I love their Autumn Wreath and Autumn Leaves. Their fruity stuff is far too fruity for me.

When I was in art school as an undergraduate and trying to find a boyfriend who wasn't a sensitive basket case, I found Midsummer's Night. It's a black candle and it smells like a i-don't-need-to-borrow-a-dollar-for-a-taco-because-i-have-a-job kind of man-boy. My roommate and I would go in together on the biggest jar they had.
It was a very conceptual scent experience.

They also have a delicious cranberry one that I love to use around the holidays. And I'll admit to having a weakness for the christmas cookie scent, too.

Usually only keep them lit in the bathrooms, when we have guests. The scent can be over-powering.

Not in order:

Pink Grapefruit (discontinued...)
Clean Cotton!!
Macintosh

Though I do buy Yankee candles, I think they are just WAY too overpriced! Come on. They're just candles.
Oh, but the scents... Other brands don't smell as good as theirs and they do offer more scents...
Just candles, but I spent way too much on just candles.

mmm, Right now I'm love the "Cider-web" Halloween candle that came out recently. I too love clean cotton, but most of everything is a little too strong for me.

There was one that Pier1 had a while ago, it was one of their mixed-scent candles, something with oceans. I dunno... but it was amazing:)

I work at Pier 1 right now so I enjoy my discount... white thyme is probably my favorite right now and it's a soy candle! It's a filled candle but it's the kind I could reuse.

their new Beanswax line of soy candles has a scent named Cran Slam that is awesome. it'll clear cooking smells out of your kitchen without being to sweet or "fake" smelling. also, leaving the jar uncapped in a small bathroom works like an air freshener.

I used to love these candles.. but then discovered I was spending way too much trying to get more scent out of my candles.. I found these wickless, flameless candle warmers and bars .. I loved them so much, I signed up to sell them.. So, just so you guys know.. for those of you that can't have traditional candles in dorms or work places, because of the flames.. you can now.. these candle warmers have a light bulb inside of them that warm the wax to body temperature...and slowly release the fragrance.. There's over 80 scents to choose from.... let me know if you're interested..
