The new Asian Modern haven in Andersonville, Urbanest, is a sight (and idea) to behold. The massive space is filled with cohesive pieces and a warm showroom design that made us want to stay all day.
The more we investigated, the more comforted we were. Not only does Urbanest support using sustainable materials (their bamboo flooring at $2.95/sq. ft. is one of the shop's top sellers), but they also keep things affordable (we were suprised by the furniture's low pricing).
The earth-friendly furniture comes directly from manufacturers all around the world, and the stores offerings have not yet reached full capacity: expect even more items in the upcoming months.
Urbanest is taking it all on, as they have plans to host design seminars and sustainable-materials conferences, incorporating (and strongly supporting) local artists' work throughout the store, and eventually opening other outposts around the country. We're happy Chicago is the first!
Heard about the store from a friend. Nicely decorated, and great prices. I bought one of their soy candles, and I use it all the time, smells great. They have a good variety of cabinets, lamps and mirrors. Would definitely recommend it! Thinking of buying some of their bamboo flooring.
Also heard about this place from a friend..what a fantastic place! I was looking for a bed and nightstands and was eyeing a set at Room and Board. So glad I stopped in here, I found a great bed and nightstands, and not only were they good quality, but the price was great (not cheap but not overpriced). I really like their furniture selection and they have great accessories too- lamps, vases, etc. Definitely worth checking out.
