Clouds for Your Walls

For some reason, whenever we see a cloud motif lately we're drawn to it. These mobiles from le Petit Atelier de Paris caught our eye and got us thinking about all the other cloud images we've blogged in the past few months, from high-end wall systems to humble embroidery...

In Chinese symbolism, clouds represent fortune and happiness. Maybe we're keying into a desire for good luck, and well-decorated walls, in 2009. A few of our favorite designs (many of them with good DIY possibilities):

The little thundercloud on the wall is adorable. I can see it painted on a panel on my office door, or a bathroom door (enter at own risk), with the sun peeking over a cloud on the other side (ok to come in).

Or maybe I'm just tired and should go to bed ...

I recently painted a happy pink cloud raining over the shower in my three daughters' bathroom. It was a project that I decided to do on a whim and it turned out pretty well. I painted the cloud first and then traced over with a sharpie to make it stand out more. I saw a vinyl for $30, but I figured why spend that much when I can do my own for free. Oh, did I mention that the kids love it?
