I escaped late Saturday afternoon from a semi-flooded Chicago to sunny Las Vegas. As I write from the West, I think about the hurricanes in the South and the storms in the Midwest (and how a mildly flooded basement is nothing compared to other alternatives). At this moment, a little rainy-day inspired artwork trumps writing about water pumps and gutters - top topics that I'm sure to obsess over when I return home. But for now, enjoy:

I really like the rain girl papercut print ~ guess everyone else did too! it is sold out!

Actually.....a flooded basement can be rather disastrous, and not everyone's was 'mild'. I didn't get any water in Woodridge but my parents have had it where it is lapping at the windowsills..from INSIDE the house. Try telling them or their neighbors that that is 'minor'... Thank goodness for flood insurance and good contractors...

amiencc - i'm so sorry to hear about your parents basement - i've been there - not so much water, but enough. i know it sucks. i have been meaning to get flood insurance...
but i do *absolutely love* rain and cloudy days, and i posted about some great art on my blog back in april - i think a lot of the things are still around.

amiencc -
i should have been clearer. i was referring to my own basement, which was covered in water on saturday (but not deep). so in comparison to others, i was having very minor flood problems...and that sentiment came out in my writing.
good luck to your parents and anyone who is dealing with some messy after effects of the storms.
