Exotica Festival and DVA Gallery: Chicago's a Tiki Town

2007-06-28-anartiki.jpg

You may remember David and Amy - theirs was the AT:Chicago house tour featuring super 20th century pieces (they own Pegboard Modern) and a full-tilt Tiki Room. The festival they organize (picture Hawaiian shirts and tropical cocktails) called Exotica 2007 hits the sunny but not-so-beach-y location of Chicagoland next week.

And if all the exotic fabulousness and surf music causes you to want to tiki-fy your home a little bit, David Van Alpen's DvA Gallery has it's annual Gala Tiki exhibition up now in the Lincoln Ave. storefront.

The Tiki show at DVA is great fun.

If you're into Tiki (like I am) and are traveling this summer, you should check out Tiki Road Trip, 2nd Edition, a guidebook to the whens and wheres of all things Tiki all over the US, Europe and Asia. It's written by a Chicagoan, to boot! Info here http://www.tydirium.net/tiki/tikiroadtrip.html
