For Like Ever Poster from Village

9-6-07forlikeever.jpg A contemporary classic. This poster (designed by Tracy Jenkins for Village in 2004) may not seem like a design for the ages, but just like the slang word it spoofs, we think the "For Like Ever" poster is here to stay.

My husband gave this to me for our first anniversary (the paper year). It was so appropriate, I had to give him props for his genius. The folks at Village may have had the same idea. Their product blurb reads: "In a way it was meant to be a love letter to each other and a celebration of the exciting and scary prospect of a new beginning."

Over the last few years, this image has infiltrated magazines and design blogs everywhere. It's a fresh twist on a classic theme, with the same combination of sweetness and edge that we see in Robert Indiana's Love sculpture.

"For Like Ever" posters, T-Shirts, totes and more can be purchased online at Village.

I really like it as a sentiment of love. But this poster has turned up everywhere. So many people have this and "Keep Calm and Carry On" that I have to forego its charm.

I purchased a gold/cream version of this after seeing the pink one in Domino about a year ago. I never got around to hanging it (couldn't find the right place for it) and now that I have a new house to decorate, it has become rather ubiquitous and has made me question whether I should invest in the frame I was going to buy (a swirly, rococo-type cream one!) and hang it.

On the other hand, I still love it to death, so I think I'm gonna go for it.

I agree that this print has become a bit passe/cliche, but it still grabs at me too and I've fought off wanting one for a while. But I was excited to see they're offering smaller-scale versions of it as well, which might go over a bit better and less on the "overdone" side. The notecards and postcards are a decent size for framing at 5 x 7. Hmmmm ... not sure about the tote bag or t-shirt, though.

I gotta go with Nicole R. - it worked on that Domino cover awhile back, but now, Like, So Ubiquitous.
