Ghost Houses by Nigel Peake

Today we discovered an unexpected book of art: this 6.75" x 8.25" soft cover book of "ghost house" drawings by Nigel Peake. Accompanying purchase of the signed book is a letterpressed print of one of Peake's drawings: "Abandoned Wooden and Beautiful" (shown below the jump). The images and color studies portrayed here are "stone shells of past homes...the roofs and doors gone...faded and dog eared...yellow edged, stacked, forgotten...ghosts of themselves." Here, they can live on as an intricate collection:

Note: Nigel has chosen Trocaire as his artwork's charity. Trocaire works to bring about positive and lasting changes in some of the world's poorest places. Their programs revolve around building a reliable way of life and helping people cope with climate change; responding to emergencies and disasters; tackling injustice and defending human rights; addressing the HIV and AIDS crisis; and supporting gender equality. $250 from the sale of Nigel's artwork will be donated to the organization.

Gorgeous. Reminds me of the Elizabeth Bishop poem "One Art" about the "art" of losing things, from the insignificant to the heartbreaking.

...you know Elizabeth Bishop also painted watercolors, very charming.
I agree, the book looks amazing!
