Mobiles (For Grown-Ups!) by Oras

20080917mobile1.jpgMobiles are usually hung up for baby, to entertain and stimulate, but who says adults can't also share in the joy? We love how these modern mobiles work within a grown-up space. Jump down for more shapes and colors.

20080918mobile2.jpgOras mobiles, created by sole designer Vilija Marshall, are modern in aesthetic and playful in color. Whether you're looking for a subtle color blend or a bold statement, Marshall has you covered with her whimsical wall art.

The mobiles come in ovals, squares, or (our favorite) stripes. If you'd prefer to shop in-person, check out the Oras website for local distributors.

Mobiles for grown-ups? You have to see these giant "bubbles" made from re-purposed, plastic soda bottles: http://stylenorth.ca/blog/2008/09/canadian-cool-pop-art/

I once saw a similar looking 'glass curtain'..with rectangles of like-colored glass, strung along a monafilament line...perfect for hanging in a window. Anyone seen this available anywhere? Those bubbles Chris mentions are cool.

Lovely and so colorful! This looks like a DIY project waiting to happen. I would start with an Ikea Grundtal rail and hang some lovely items from it. If I actually do it I will make sure to post some pics.

I have a Flensted mobile hanging above my bed and I absolutely love it. Just because something is intended for children doesn't mean adults can't enjoy it as well. Just look at all the posts lately about PB for kids!

Wow, LittleRock. I'm impressed with the way you were able to say that while still being petty and rude. Kudos.

I really want them to be musical chimes so every time I flush the toilet I can ding out a tune.

I'm going to echo littlebrownbird here. I have a couple flensted mobiles I love. Part of what I love is the motion of the mobiles. These may be nice and "grown-up", but when you hang everything from the same bar, you lose most of the magic of the mobile. They're quite pretty, but I imagine they'd be pretty boring as far as mobiles go.
