What Would Neil Young Do by Jeremy Deller
Montreal

Did you love the What Would Neil Young Do poster as seen in Eve's House Tour? If you're in the area, just stop by the Sympathy for the Devil show at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum to pick up your own. See the poster hanging in Eve's loft after the jump...

The "WWNYD?" posters by Jeremy Deller are stacked up as part of the show, available free to visitors. I loved it at Eve's and might pick up one for my nephew the next time I'm at the museum. The show is organized by Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art and is on exhibit in Montreal until January 11, 2009.

Let's impeach the . . . . Ooops, sorry. Forgot that we're not supposed to get political on this site :-)

Personally, this poster isn't doing it for me, and I'm a Neil Young fan. Maybe it's because it'll be in the homes of a many many folks who aren't Neil Young fans, but thought it would be cool to have the poster since they saw it on AT.

I'd love one that says - What would John Ryden do?

Forget Young! What would Neil DIAMOND do is the more important question!

1) Johnny Lydon would tear up the poster, wee on it, and then sue the people who made it

2) Neil Diamond would turn the typo on the poster into a catchy, can't-get-it-out-of-your-head-guilty-pleasure-turn-up-the-radio-when-you're-alone-in-the-car song out of it

Just seeing the picture of everyone grabbing their copy of the poster makes me think a lot less of it and anyone who puts one up. It may be a false reaction, but I sense words like "squee" and "OMG- I have to get this!" from this scene. They might as well sell them at Urban Outfitters now. Once this happens, it's just not any cool at all. I can't even try to apply lyrics to this comment, it makes me choke.

What rockers, celebrities and politicians do are so unimportant or impressive to me.

Give me an everyday person just doing something good and right because that is what a person is supposed to do and that is what rocks my socks.

I meant to write unimpressive.

I loved it in Eve´s tour... but I wouldn´t like it at my home. I guess I´m too "shy" to put such statements on my walls. I would just feel weird.

I looooovvvvve weird Neil, however, the poster would only look good in the garage!
I do love the sentiment, and Neil seems to be the guy who usually tries to do the right thing!
Rock on!
