2007-09-07-daiso.jpgWe jealously know that they exist on the West Coast, but we traveled over 20,000 miles roundtrip (20,840 to be exact) to visit Daiso. It is described as Japan's #1 ranking livingware supplier.

Thailand 1 066.jpgFollowing the dollar store concept, all items are the same price - at the location we visited (Phuket, Thailand) that meant everything was available for 65 baht (just about $2).

A sampling of what 65 baht will buy:

A Pair of Slippers

Health Guards

Pretty Bowls

Three Tennis Balls

Thailand 1 063.jpg
Baskets and Plants

and finally...Teddy Bear Rice Molds!

We didn't bring anything to our home from Daiso, but might well have if we hadn't needed to squeeze it into a suitcase...we've still got our fingers crossed for a closer location.

Oh my god...this is my favorite store this year!

They just opened one (or something like it) in San Diego and everything in their store is $1.50 unless marked.

I picked up little wooden miniature Japanese garden elements to keep my houseplants company. Plus, I got tons of little useful home items like gel earthquake pads and cute/kawai puppets.

Pure consumer heaven (or hell if you hate little things).
