apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Fall Cure: Week Eight - Before and After

Good Quotes: I don't think I've loved my apartment this much since I first moved in. STLcolleen

We made it! Yesterday we spent some time putting together a slideshow of the Cure. Looking through everyone's pics was an extraordinary experience. We saw a new condo become a home, a home office transformed, and a whole lot of decluttering. Congratulations, Fall Curers!

We wish we could show all the progress that was made, but we had to whittle down almost 700 (!) photos into a short slideshow. To see the whole Flickr group, click here.

To those of you who ran out of steam somewhere along the way: you're not alone. Just making the commitment to work on your space changes your perspective and moves you a few steps toward your goals. As we keep running Cures and offering opportunities to join in, we hope that everyone finds their right time and does a bit more each time.

Our wish for all of you is that you'll take all the energy you've put into your apartment over the last 2 months and direct it towards taking care of yourself and your home. Have fun at your parties, post pictures to the Flickr page, and have a great weekend!

P.S. After the Cure, keep us posted on your progress. Tag photos of your beautiful new spaces with "apartmenttherapychicago".

Thanks for all of your hard work, Sarah - the slide show looks great! It's so nice to see how everyone has progressed. Meanwhile, I have lots more progressing to do. Just because the Cure is over doesn't mean I will stop...

Yay! Awesome job everyone, and Sarah, thanks for putting everything together on the slideshow - it was really great to see all the amazing results!

I won't be doing a party this weekend, we've got two weddings and a 30th b. day party. BUT my best friend from DC will be in town and she'll get to see it all and I've promised my other friends who are in town that we'll have a fall get-together soon. I can't wait!

That was great. I'm so exited about my pictures being in the slideshoe. I love my house, and i get plenty of pleasure out of it when other people enjoy it too. I love this site. Keep up the great work!

I was just startled by how colorless my kitchen before shot was. Granted, it was taken in just-moved-in-haven't-done-nothing state, but my immediate reaction was, "Goodness, that was bland." I'm so happy with what I have now. I'll have a few more "afters" up this weekend. But to everyone: Wonderful work! Congratulations.

wow! we've come a long way. it was great to see my before, during and after on the slideshow. after a family emergency, a computer crash and boy trouble, my cure just kind of fizzled out, but i've still been working. i did a big clean on the closet yesterday and have been purging paper clutter like crazy. my apt. is so much closer to being the home that i want it to be. this process is great and i can't wait to see what happens next.

Thanks for the slideshow! I just got back from my emergency trip and am so glad to be in my own home again! I still have my kitchen to finish but having something of my own to focus on will be really fantastic.
Everyones places look great! It looks like a lot of hard work was done during this cure.

Wonderful slideshow! I

n some cases, the differences were subtle (it took me a minute to realise in one that the walls were painted--that was all yet it looked totally different!). In every case, though, every space looks so much better, friendlier, happier places to live.

Awesome work everyone! Congrats!

Thanks for the slideshow, Sarah! culling through all those photos would be quite a task!

Everyone's progress has been just so great. I'm going to be posting my own little before/after slideshow, probably tomorrow (yesterday was the plan, but the plan got changed...) I'll let you know when it's there.

Welcome home, lorijo!

My slideshow is now available. I had been feeling that there was so much left undone -- but putting together the slideshow definitely showed me that I made a lot of progress, even if I didn't get done everything I had wanted to. That's a good feeling, seeing that I did accomplish quite a bit.

For the most part, the befores and afters correspond one-to-one in the slideshow, but there are a few places where two or three afters were necessary. I think it's fairly self-explanatory.

Let the celebrating begin!

I didn't participate in this cure as we are in temporary digs that we hope to be leaving in a few months (besides, I think a total demo and rebuild is the only hope for this place!) But I lurked as much as I could, and I have to say WOW! I'm always amazed at what a huge difference decluttering, and a little splash of color here and there can make. Truly inspiring, Chicago region curers!
