Before and After: CHI Spring Cure

5-2-08curelogo.jpgWhile sorting through the Cure photos and compiling a slideshow of the Chicago Group we saw messy spaces transformed into healthy rooms, but our favorite part of the process has been this group's ability to apply their newfound perspective to their lives as a whole. Cure members reused, recycled, painted, decluttered, cleaned, supported one another, introduced daily creativity into their lives, and even volunteered in their communities. This group reminded us of the important connection between how we live at home and how we interact with our larger communities, both online and in our towns and cities...

To the people who dropped off somewhere along the way: you're not alone. Just making the decision to work on your home shifts your point of view a few degrees. The timing may have been wrong for this Cure, but you can always start again when you're ready. We run Cures during the Fall and Spring each year, and we hope that anyone who wants to spend some time on their home will join us in the future.

For those of you who have accomplished more than you thought possible: congratulations! Now we hope you'll take the energy that you've channeled into your apartment and use it to have some fun. Enjoy your parties, continue to keep us posted on your healthy homes (we look for Flickr photos tagged with "apartmenttherapychicago"), and enjoy yourself!

We'll be compiling a final graduation post next week and, as always, we'll continue to post on Cure-related topics throughout the year. May is all about cleaning and organization - any Curers still in need of some organizational help will have a lot of resources and information this month!

Thank you so much to all our Cure participants for sharing your homes, inspiring us, and teaching us a few things as well!

DRAT! I got to slide 26 and then nothing. The red bar on the slideshow just kept running and running. Poot.

Can this be fixed?

Thanks for the pics! We're still working on getting that fireplace mess covered up and a few other things, but it has been truly wonderful being a part of the Chicago group!

I loved the little posts about the Cure along the way, they kept me motivated Sarahc. You did a great job of honouring us!
Good luck settling into the new place sarahc.

I had the same problem with the slideshow.

SarahC, thanks for all you've done to motivate us, and encourage us, and celebrate all the achievements!

Enjoy your new home!

While I haven't been keeping up with posting my photos, I've been a busy bee here! I'm really happy that I participated in The Cure. I feel inspired by our group. I accomplished a lot. I'm a hoarder and a pack-rat by nature. I have a lot of stuff, but this process asks me to edit and distill and live with only that which I really love. My out-box always has something in it now and I'm giving things away to people all the time.

I still have four things on a "to do" list and this process added new immediacy to doing them. In fact, I painted my kitchen last weekend and changed my kitchen curtains. It's a subtle change, yet a very fresh new look.

I have three projects left that I want to do before the end of May and I have a good feeling I'm going to get them done. My fourth and final project is still on the back burner as I'm thinking about how to best accomplish it and what exactly it is that I want to do.

Thanks, AT!

I'm impressed with our group!
I still have some work to do to keep me busy to the end of May. I'll post the pictures as I make progress.

Hi guys, sorry for being so slow to respond. With moving this week, I'm a little behind. (The move went really well, but there's a lot of Curing to be done in my new home.) Thanks for letting me know about the slideshow - I'm looking into it and will post when it's fixed.

Thanks again to all of you for your participation and for your inspiring progress. I will miss this group, and I hope you'll come back for the Fall Cure!
