This photo by Kotama Bouabane reminded us of an ongoing dilemma we've had for the past couple of weeks: do we stay in and finish the work that needs to be done on our new apartment (painting, scouting for a couple of pieces of furniture, decluttering) or do we go out and have fun because it's summer in Chicago? We've come to the realization that sometimes it's best to just let it go...
All last week, we did absolutely no work on our apartment and it felt great. We saw two movies, read a book, took walks, went out with friends, and were reminded that we have a life. Since we moved in to our new apartment, the drive to perfect our place has transformed a process we normally enjoy into something totally stressful. Our apartment still needs a lot of work, but we'll get to it soon enough. For now, it's nice to let go.

It's summer time!!!! Get some vitamin D and enjoy the sun instead of staying couped up inside doing renovations!

You must take advantage of the good weather while you have it. Plenty of time for staying in on winter weekends!

Go outside and stop focusing on the house. That will probably be when you find those pieces you need. I tagged along with my friend to the Allstate Arena flea market last week - found an amazing Victorian styled chair for only $10. It was in great condition and is the coolest pink/fushia satin. It totally pulls my room together. And I wasn't even looking for it - I just wanted to get a tan!

If it feels good to let it go, do it. There will be a long W*****R for you to pull your place together.

i just moved last weekend. it's been a hard balance of wanting to get everything put away right away and relaxing and exploring my new area. this post has inspired me to slack off just a little bit.
thanks AT!
