When the shopping bug hits or the boredom of how things look at home sets in, we recommend switching things around. Whether swapping the dining room rug with the living room rug (we just did this the other day and our home feels 1,000 times better), rearranging some furniture, or digging an old throw or accessory out of storage, using what you have to make some "updates" is sometimes the best and always the cheapest way to go.

I remember coming home from school to find all of my room's furniture rearranged and it was the best feeling, all was new again yet I never do it but lately I have been inspired and I feel and new room in the air.

i recently swapped out two silver picture frames for some red ones in the bedroom, and it made a world of difference.

i love doing this. living in a studio apartment makes you somewhat expert in moving furniture around/creating new vignettes with the few stuff you already have! i did this just last night: swapped some plants and my armchair around to make the space flow better. Ahhhh....

I've been accused of having something mentally wrong with me because I move my furniture around/reaarange so much. I even take legs off some tables (coffee and side) and switch them around. I made super cool coffee table out of some cool 50's hairpin legs and an IKEA desk/table top.

switching around my lamps (and even swapping the lampshades around) and the artwork I find are some of the easiest for me.

I wanted to move my sofa out of my bay window, where it seemed to fit perfectly, because it blocked the heat source in the room, and I read about how energy inefficient that was. The only way the room would work after that was to place my two sofas across from one another. I don't like too much symmetry, but the sofas are each quite different, and it looks great.
I moved two chrome legged Eames style knock-offs to the head of the room, at the bay window, and slid a little mid-century end table between them, and it looks great! So much more friendly for conversation. I moved my TV to the opposite end of the room too, which makes it less of a feature. It was such a smart move! We're using the living room so differently now.
