Dania Furniture is a resource that pops up time and again in our comment threads and Midwestern House Tours. They've opened a new store in the Algonquin Galleria that features a wide selection of their affordable contemporary furniture. Functional and reasonably priced, Dania products are rooted in a twenty-year history of quality European design. In addition to the Algonquin location, Dania has stores in Lombard, Northbrook, Orland Park, and Hoffman Estates. Click below for a few selections from the new store...

Dania has a lot of nice stuff, but a lot of it is sized and scaled for larger (aka Suburban SF) spaces and it seems that they never have sales..

I find the store, Scandinavian Design, located in Skokie, Illinois a much better option for Chicago-area folks. The prices are equivalent, it's a locally-owned and operated store (rather than big-box Dania,) the selection of teak furniture is much larger (for those "investment- have for a long time purchases), . . . and the owner is extremely knowledge and nice to boot. Address/#: Scandinavian Design, 4028 Dempster St, Skokie, IL 60076, (847) 568-0500,
Side note on my Dania experience:
When I was shopping for a teak dining room set, the salesmen at two different Dania stores in the Chicago-area reminded me of used car salesman in the worst possible way. I walked out each store with the impulse to make a t-shirt that said "Teak is teak. Not walnut, not cherry, birch. Teak"

really, a sponsored post? In other words, an ad that is not supposed to look like one? I know this isn't the New York Times, but shouldn't there be a clear line between a posting and an ad?
