Recently we became aware of a fantastic website,
govedeals.com that holds treasures for governmental/state facilities all across the country. Have you ever wondered what happens to old shelving from libraries? Or chairs from the IRS? From Florida to Arizona, this new site has it all,
click through to see our favorite 15 finds, most of which still don't have bids. Who knows, there could be something right under your nose!
Many of the auctions are large groupings or lots of different items. Most often you will need to pay the closing auction price, but they won't mandate you remove all the items. If this is your plan, you can always email to check ahead of time. Or offer the rest of the findings on Craigslist in the free section and make someone's day!

I work for a large University/Hospital that each year has a general auction and a chair sale. At the auction, items are sold in lots and at the chair sale all chairs are one dollar. I purchased two dental stools with wheels at the last chair sale and I plan to use them as barstools. I also purchased eight midcentury mod chairs. I will keep them in storage until I have found the perfect table. Eight dollars for a set of dinning room chairs can not be beat. At the last auction, I purchased a lot consisting of three large office tables and two desks for twenty dollars. I only wanted one of the large tables. I ended up using the other tables in my basement for work spaces. I donated the other items in the lot to a charitable thrift store.

If they shipped, I would be all over this.

we bought some computers/monitors twice off the gov. auctions. You have to pick up the stuff yourself though.

Sorry - but do people actually LIKE those yellow chairs?
I sat on their wretched cousins for 5 years of design school crits. Awful (and very uncomfortable) memories...

I'd just like to note that there is an auction on this site for a set of "Magic the Gathering" cards.
I would have loved to see the police raid in which they had to confiscate this gem.
