The $12,000 Toilet and Nine More High-Priced Potties
Chicago Tribune

We ran across a slideshow entitled "glamorizing the toilet" online at the Chicago Tribune site. It brings together a look at ten ultra exclusive? glamorous? EXPENSIVE toilets and is worth a peek if pricey potties are of any interest (maybe for a giggle?)...

1. Miyabi Collection by Toto, $12,000
2. Julien Bench Toilet by Tory Adams Design, $11,475
3. Neo Comby by Neo-Metro, $5,938

Each of these toilets is unusual in ways other than their price tag, of course:

  • The Miyabi touts hand painted designs in 24 karat gold "to evoke a golden summer day".
  • The Julien features a sliding wood panel to conceal the fixture.
  • The Neo Comby combines commode and toilet in one fixture, which can be powder coated in custom colors.

But while it's fun to see what the high end manufacturers are coming up with, at the end of the day, we'd have to go for money in the bank over one of these in the bathroom.

Check out the full slideshow right here at the Chicago Tribune for the rest of the group.

Ah, nothing like a golden summer day when you're... ... ...

    Nope, I don't get it.

Don't rich people have enough stuff to spend money on?

I saw the Neo Comby featured on an HGTV or FLN program and my first impression of it was that it looked like it belonged in a jail cell.

For that price, it's going in my living room.

I wish the Neo Comby concept would be taken further to make it more appealing to home owners. It's great that the water from washing your hands can be used for flushing the toilet too, but that doesn't mean the sink has to go directly on top of the water tank, does it?

Pretty sure I could just hand paint my own toilet...Who cares if it won't be 24k gold.

    That's just silly!

(I thought $250 for Toto dual flush was expensive!)

I agree with the one looking like a prison toilette. Not really all that fond of the rest of them either. For some reason, the toilette just shouldn't be the decor focal point of the room.

I believe the phrase "Holy Crap!" would be rather appropriate...

I think the second one is petty stylish and a neat idea, but yes, far too expensive. I'd rather buy a new car.

"to evoke a golden summer day"

Not want I to feel when I'm on the can.
