Every few years, my Christmas gift to myself tends to be a new set of sheets, a great blanket or new throw (we can never have too many throws; with the heat kept low we are constantly wrapped in this household). I like to keep them simple, and I also like to try out new sources in my quest for perfection (the perfect flannel sheets are really difficult. Suggestions welcome!). Overstock sales at Lands' End have turned up some nice basics on this freezing Chicago day:

How about some german flannel sheets from overstock.com: http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Ultra-soft-Heavy-weight-German-Flannel-Sheet-Set/409649/product.html
I'm addicted to that site.

Lands' End have some of the best quality bedding at reasonable prices...
...plus everything is Unconditionally Guaranteed, monogramming and giftwrapping is inexpensive, the ladies in the call-center are incredibly nice and informative (I think they're still from Wisconsin) and I believe returns now can be brought to your local Sears Store.

Off topic - does everyone but me give themselves a Christmas gift? I've never done that.

Those microfiber blankets look like the ones I've been buying from Costco for ~$25. I've never had a problem with static with them (hence, I'm assuming that they probably also count as anti-static).

I have flannel sheets from Garnet Hill you get what you pay for they fit well, they don't pile, get softer each time you wash them.. I have the ticking fitted and the duvet cover is ticking on one side and solid on the other a nice combo tho change the look. Love them, hard to get out of bed.
