If you're looking for a way to splurge on yourself without overspending, the bedroom is a good room to invest in. It's the room where you rest, relax, and...um...connect with another person. Whether or not you're "connecting," make sure your room offers at least one beautiful thing to look at: a vase of flowers, a piece of artwork, or an amazing light fixture. Click below for a few ideas...

Choosing good artwork for the bedroom is important. Pick something that makes you feel good and won't give you nightmares. Photo: 21c Museum Hotel.

Flowers bring life into a room; why not use them in the place where you spend the most time? This flowering branch arrangement adds a lot to Christy and John's dresser.

Natural elements are an inexpensive way to bring beauty to the bedroom, like this bowl of stones in Meg and John's home.

The bedroom in the first pictures is my dream bedroom. Maybe one day...

All the blankets on these beds look so nice. I love that gray one on the first image.

That Olde Bell Inn photo was inspiration for my bedroom. It has been posted before and I loved it. Living grey!

A nice bedside water carafe (Sp?) can also add a special touch to the bedroom - though not sure I'd really use it!

I agree about the carafe. I bought one for when I was sick once and even though I rarely use it anymore, I love how it looks on the beside table and the glass adds a bit of sparkle.

My bedroom is so important at the end of a day, good or bad and many of us wait to redecorate because it's not the showplace that the rest of our house is. Treat yourself with things that relax and inspire you:-)

Hmm... my bedroom needs to be functional in the first place. Sure, I decorate it a bit, hang some pictures, put down a shelf or two of bed time reading but most of all, the bed needs to be comfortable and the sheets pleasant and that's all. I go there to sleep, I'll have my eyes closed so won't see anything.

My living room and such are the places I spend my time so those are the areas I want to do stuff to to make them 'pretty' :)

Of course, if I would spend (a lot of) time in my bedroom outside of sleeping I would most likely up the prettiness of the room but for me, now, it's not at all a priority.

Any ideas on a source for the grey blanket?

I do love that first bedroom, but that artwork would give some people nightmares-- those images are from a series by elena dorfman of men with their life-size dolls!

...that being said though, they are gorgeous prints, and despite the creepy subject matter, I wouldn't mind having one!
