apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Side-by-Side Dressers

This is a look that seems obvious when you see it in a room, but it's not something you immediately think of when you're planning a space. If you have the room, side-by-side dressers can double your storage space (especially helpful if two people share a bedroom). They can also create flexible storage in other rooms; line them up to make a dining room buffet, a living room case piece, or additional hallway storage...

We have a row of Ikea Mandals in our bedroom, under the knee wall. I hope to paint them someday to make them look like a built-in.

Nice and clever. I like the idea.

I had a pair of Blu-Dot Modulicious 1's in my bedroom as dressers for a few years...

...ended up needing more space and tiring of bending over to get into the drawers so I replaced them with a vintage Broyhill Brazilia Double-Dresser.

The best part is that it gives you more flexibility should you want to rearrange furniture later....and a whole lot more easier to move when the time comes.

Where do the green bureaus/dressers come from?

Only bad part is sometimes it can make one part of a room feel busy...but in a bedroom, sometimes people have to deal too.

One of our friends put 2 of the low IKEA Malm 4-drawer chests to form a long storage/TV unit. They're only about 2 ft high and look very sleek and expensive.

I was thinking of getting the long Malm chest with glass top as a tv stand...so I could use it for storage as well.

Thoughts on that?

Those blue pieces are beautiful. Anyone know where they are from?
