Simple Bedside Tablescapes

The area around your bed can be a direct reflection of your state of mind. For instance, when your bedside table is crowded with books, electronic chargers, and a dirty water glass, you're probably in the middle of a stressful week. Taking the time to clear the space where you sleep is an important part of maintaining a restful bedroom...

There are differing ideas about how to stock the bedside table. We like to keep it simple with just a lamp, an alarm clock, and whatever we're currently reading, but many people prefer to decorate their tabletop with a candle and maybe some family photos.

If you're the type that likes to have a lot of stuff on hand, we recommend getting a bedside table with storage and keeping the top surface as clear as possible. A clean surface creates a "blank slate" for the next day.

Wow, a bedroom that's actually smaller than mine (Amy's)!

It's amazing how such a simple thing can make such a big difference - I definately notice a difference in my sleep and waking mood if I let my bedside table get cluttered. I now try to make clearing it part of my bed making routine.

Probably helps too to make one's bed. I like the center picture (matching couple) because the bedding looks so crisp and flat, it repeats the straight lines of their bedside tables.

Yes, simpler is definitely better.

This also applies to the top of the dresser, the chair in the corner, etc. - Piles of stuff anywhere in your bedroom will make your room less comfortable.

and loving it.

I love this approach! We kept things simple by using visually light bedside tables and wall mounted reading lights:
