Sleeping Loft from a Swedish Apartment

6-2-09sleepingloft1.jpg

How cool is this kitchen and sleeping loft? Almost everything you need is arranged in a compact space, all perfectly color-coordinated with orange countertops, trim, and appliances against a white background. Currently on the market in Stockholm, this studio apartment offers lots of inspiring ideas...

The efficiently stacked kitchen and bedroom open up the rest of the loft for entertaining. A large dining table and living area provide plenty of space to spread out, while huge windows with deep sills are the perfect spot for a container garden.

This is the first sleeping loft I've seen that I'd actually want for myself -- it's wonderful, as is the rest of the place. Open, airy, bright, happy... I didn't know I liked orange until I saw this.

I love orange as it is, and this place is fantastic. Hmm. Can I move to Sweden?

It looks so great! The only thing I'd be worried about would be that my bedding would start smelling like whatever I cooked.

Love the sliding doors on the loft for privacy, darkness. The only thing I would worry about is smells...my bedroom now is near the kitchen and I keep the door closed to keep my sheets from smelling like baked salmon...

i love the orange, the only concern would be that the cooking smells would get into the bed and that just wouldnt be fun!

Finally a sleeping loft one could more than likely stand up in...very nice.

Apart from the fact that I'm no longer nimble enough for those steps, it's a really cute place and I'd have loved it in my 20's. (I think it needs some blue, though. And maybe a little green, too...)

I second the concern about food smells. Why is it people always seem to stack the loft over the kitchen?

I live in an open floorplan space, and cooking smells are annoying enough when my bedroom is at the opposite end of the apartment!

i think that my only problem would be the stairs in the middle of the night or while drunk (not often, but...) especially w/o a rail.

This reminds me of orange cream savers.

The loft is cool, but wouldn't work for everyone.

Max -- Unless someone is cooking breakfast for the other (oh no...that would be terrible...*sarcasm*), I don't get food smells. More than likely when you are cooking, no one is going to be in the bedroom...and vise versa.

ChrisGal- I used to live in a similar loft in college. The bedding always smelled of whatever I had recently cooked. I learned quickly never to make fish or anything with onions or garlic. And your pillows can actually get greasy if you're slow-cooking a stew or pan-cooking meat. It really is a bit icky.
