1-9-09hotel.jpg

Designed to provide a good night's sleep in style, hotels are a great resource for bedroom decorating. Many of them manage to pack a whole living area into one room, so we love to look to hotels for small space ideas as well. We've posted our favorites; now we want to hear from you: What's your favorite hotel for bedroom inspiration? Let us know in the comments (and click below to see some of our top picks from AT)...

The hotel rooms that inspire me most are always beachy. I redid my entire living space after a trip to Puerto Vallarta. We stayed at the Puerto De Luna and it had these wonderful hand-plastered walls that curved gracefully up into the high ceilings. The painting on the walls was wonderful, too, it was mostly a deep peachy melon color with white accents. They had painted the walls up to just under the ceiling curve peach, then a thick stripe of white, then the curve was followed by a contour of peach, and finally the middle of the ceiling was done white. It really made the most of the simple architectural elements and the colors just always left me feeling happy. I repainted as soon as I got home!
In the years since then I've spent lots of time in Daytona Beach Florida and the Hilton there has these lovely yellow rooms that really make you feel like you're at someone's beach house, instead of a giant hotel conglomerate. It's also energizing and really inspires one to go explore. The Coral Beach Resort in Daytona also has lovely beachy colored rooms that really make one feel as if you're totally removed from "real" life. I always want to incorporate the colors in my home so I can bring back a little of those vacation feelings.
