Amenity's New Muir Bed

6-3-08muir1.jpg

Whenever we post Amenity's organic bedding, we almost always get a question in the comments about the bed they use for photo shoots. It's a custom bed made by Amenity, and until now it hasn't been available to the public. Not anymore - you can finally purchase the Muir bed through Amenity's website and through select retailers. Like their bedding, it has a few green features...

The Muir Bed (named for conservationist John Muir) is made from reclaimed Douglas Fir and finished with low-VOC stains. It's priced at $1,870 for a Queen and $1,980 for a King or California King. For more information, visit Amenity's site. Retailers include 2Modern and Design Public.

The bedding is beautiful. But the bed itself looks like something you'd find at ikea. What's the big deal? Certainly not great enough to justify paying nearly 2000 for.

A nice simple platform bed, which, unlike an IKEA version, looks sturdy rather than wobbly.
