Next up in in our look at the best of modern bed design we have an Italian entry. Low and sleek with rounded edges and a padded backboard, it manages to be both ultra modern and comfortable looking. Big points also for being one of the few beds that we could imagine looking good positioned as a floating piece in a room...

...it is the Prins by Carlo Colombo for Flou.

Hard and soft, clean edged and padded, this design is a pleasant melding of ideas. The curving frame is made from glossy black or white polyurethane and is available with a one-piece cushion back that has fabric or leather removable covers.

This photo illustrates what we said above - it looks great centered in the space. We see this done in promotional photos for beds but often think it looks unrealistic or awkward, but with this design, it actually works.

I want the bedside tables! The bed's pretty but like the Ikea Tolga, doesn't appear sturdy enough for late night action.

I want it. Bad. Leave it to the Italians to come up with something that sexy.
